Aurzen Zip The Worlds First Tri-Fold Projector

This interesting little gadget solves a problem. Have you ever booked a holiday and when you arrived you realised? You should have done more research. And you end up stuck with an ancient TV with only foreign channels or no TV at all. Or even worse than that, let's say you have to go camping. Well, that's when you'll appreciate the Aurzen Zip the most.

This is the world's first tri-fold projector. It's also the smallest foldable projector ever made & it uses the world's smallest Digital light processing chip. The price in the UK is around £300. I'll have some affiliate links below if you want to check the price in your region. There are two colour options: Dark grey & and the Titanium Gold. There are a bunch of optional accessories for this. I don't have them here, so I can't comment on them, but they sent me a protective case. This is around £30.

Design

So let me give you a quick tour of the design, and then I'll show you what this thing can do. And I'll give you my honest opinion on the quality and best use cases. Up front, you have your lens & 100 ANSI Lumens light source. A TOF sensor is next to it, which is used for its Autofocus and Autokeystone ability. On the left and right sides of the central section are 1-watt stereo speakers. It doesn't sound like much, but they are considerably better quality & louder than any phone speakers I've heard. You'll also notice a very slim USB-C charging port here. This supports 24W power delivery, the battery is 5000mAh, and the run time on a full charge is 1.5 hours. So, if you're going to be watching a football match or a long movie, you should wire in a power bank.

It has firm aluminium hinges & the base is weighted to support the upper two-thirds. You have heat vents on the back and a brightness boost switch on the right. Power and volume rocker on the left. Across the top are LED lights for your battery level and back-lit capacitive buttons for navigating the UI. And this whole thing feels well built, and the weight is just 280 grams, around 50 grams heavier than an iPhone Pro max. And the best thing about this is it can just slip into your pocket. However, you shouldn't do that because you want to log the heat vent with pocket lint. It would have been nice if Aurzen had thrown in a material pouch to protect this when it is in your pocket. Anyway, let me give you a look at the picture quality.

Picture

The first thing to know about this is that it has no operating system. It is entirely reliant on screen mirroring, which is a good thing for a travel gadget.  It means you don't have to download or log in to apps on the device. And if you have mobile data, you can stream a movie to the big display anywhere.

You can get an HDMI dongle to cast this from devices like game consoles. However, as with standard Android, Apple iOS, Mac, and Windows PCs can cast directly to this. While testing this with an iPhone, I ran into a few issues. You can stream from Apple TV or Netflix, probably due to piracy protection protocols.
