Details Of Microsoft's New Flagship Lumia Phones Leaked

We have heard rumblings online that Microsoft is preparing to launch two new devices at an event due to be held in October. There have been a few suspected image appearing online along with the full specifications, Evan Blass of EVleaks has tweeted what appear to be offical renders of both new Lumia devices.

According to the tweet Blass has let it slip that the two devices have been codenamed the Cityman and the Talkman and Microsoft is expect to dub these as the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL at their October event.

The images show that the circular camera area protruding out of the back of both  handsets slightly and also there is a noticeable difference to the camera surrounds, the larger of the two handsets - the Cityman (5.7 inch) has the triple LED flash integrated next to the camera with the camera lens off centre where as the smaller Talkman (5.2 inch) has had it's lens placed smack bang in the middle of the phone with the flash placed off to one side. It will be interesting to see if this makes any difference to night/flash shooting.

The specs for both handsets look pretty good with some up to date tech such as Qi wireless charging and they feature one VERY important feature in my book - a microSD card slot - which is something that is now missing from my favourite phone series the Galaxy Note, they have have another of the people's favourites a removable/replaceable battery:

Talkman (Lumia 950)

  • Matte White or black polycarbonate body
  • 5.2 inch WQHD (1440x2560) OLED display
  • Snapdragon 808, 64-bit Hexa core
  • Iris scanner (infrared) for Windows Hello
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 32GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot
  • 20MP PureView rear camera
  • 5MP Wide-angle front facing camera
  • 3000 mAh removable battery
  • Qi wireless charging with flip cover
  • USB Type-C

Cityman (Lumia 950 XL)

  • Matte White or black polycarbonate body
  • 5.7 inch WQHD (1440x2560) OLED display
  • Snapdragon 810, 64-bit Octa core
  • Iris scanner (infrared) for Windows Hello
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 32GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot
  • 20MP PureView rear camera with triple LED flash
  • 1mm silver ring inside the circumference of the black camera pod
  • Aluminum side buttons
  • 5MP Wide-angle front facing camera
  • 3300 mAh removable battery
  • Qi wireless charging integrated
  • USB Type-C

So while the Cityman/950 XL is the more appealing for me as a replacement/upgrade from my Note 3 I think I will be holding off a while longer to see if the rumours of the Surface Phone become a reality.
