Vivo V50 - Expensive Flagships Don't Even Have This!
Ok, guys here's a brand new device with Zeiss fine-tuned cameras. It's called the Vivo V50…there's no pro model this year and that might be because this V50 is pro enough. And you'll see what I mean. Most people would describe it as an upper mid-tier device, which it is but it is in flagship killer territory because some of the specs really shocked me.
So, let's get straight into that. The V50 has a 6000mAh battery, that's bigger than most of the popular flagships in early 2025. Vivo is using the latest. second-generation silicon-carbon anode tech. This battery supports a charging speed of up 90 watts that is roughly double the speed of the most popular flagships in the US and UK right now.
The display is FHD+ 120HZ HDR 10 Amoled, 4500 nits of peak brightness, 389ppi. So, it's a solid display. It also has stereo speakers, dual sim tray. Optical fingerprint reader. Up to 512GB Rom and 12GB Ram. And the V50 is beautifully designed in my opinion, it's slim, it's lightweight, and it's got quad rounded edges on all sides. So it's super comfortable to hold, and comfortable to use.
And I am a fan of the finish in the back and I like the single piece of glass over all the cameras on the back. And the little details definitely got the premium looks. So 6000mAh was the first flagship killer specs, here's another. The V50 has been sealed up to meet IP68, IP69 rating. This means its ingress protection is higher than a lot of flagship phones right now. The processor used on the V50 is a Qualcomm chip. It's the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. And it's still one of the best in the mid-range at the time of this video.
it's more than capable of running more demanding games like Genshin and Call of Duty…and it can handle some on-device AI tasks which I'll show you in a minute of course you do get Google's Gemini mapped to the power key by default. but, maybe most importantly, the SD7 Gen 3 is excellent at image signal processing, the reason this is important is because Vivo V series phones are all about cameras. And with the Vivo v50, Vivo & Zeiss have really focused on Portrait photography.
So, let's run through the need-to-know camera specs. All the cameras on the V50 can shoot 4K video. Which is impressive. There are two cameras on the back, both 50MP both with Zeiss coatings and have been co-engineered with Zeiss. The primary has OIS, which results in very steady video, and OIS also helps reduce camera shake whilst taking photos. If your hands are cold for example. Which means there is less chance of blurring in your photos. The primary camera sensor is large at 1/1.55”. And one big advantage of having a large image sensor is that low-light performance can be better.

The second shooter is the 119-degree Ultra wide. This is amazing for landscape shots and group photos. And Vivos camera software is so good at locking focus onto multiple faces at once. In these wide shots. The large 50-megapixel count on the Ultra wide sensor does mean you'll get lots of detail in those wide-angle photos. And, this is something that really separates the Vivo V series phones from the pack and even from the flagships. It's its unique Ai Aura light. Which is essentially a flash that you adjust the colour temperature manually or let it automatically using AI. And it's a game changer in lower-light scenarios. Because it allows you to create different styles and looks without applying filters. After taking this out for some field tests. I can tell you HDR performance is also surprisingly good on the V50..not just on the rear cameras but also on the selfie.

The selfie camera also 50MP is yet another flagship killer spec, and to make it even better again this camera setup has been selected and fine-tuned in collaboration with Zeiss. It's got a 92-degree wide-angle lens, and honestly, it is very good, interestingly though even though the beauty mode seems to be switched off by default. Does still seems to be a slight beatification happening here.

And being a camera-focused phone there are so many camera tools. There are lots of iconic Zeiss portrait styles to play with, as well as live photo modes, pro modes, astrophotography and interesting video modes. And of course, you got the Ai eraser for deleting distractions from your photos which is nice.

The software running on the V50 out of the box is FunTouch OS 15, on top of Android 15. And it's packed with so many personalisation settings. It will feel very familiar to anyone who has used an android before. You do get some additional Ai features like the AI voice recorder & The V50 has a solid camera system.
